The 2017 Alfa Romeo Giulia Quadrifoglio has finally reached the United States. Assembled at FCA Italy’s Cassino Plant, Alfa Romeo originally planned manufacturing and sales to start in November 2015 and February 2016, respectively.

Unveiled to the press in June 2015 at the Museo Storico Alfa Romeo in Arese, Italy, the Giulia entered production last April. The new vehicle is the first of Alfa Romeo’s revival plan. The carmaker will return to a rear wheel drive platform, with the possibility of all-wheel drive.

The Giulia also marks the rebirth of the Quadrifoglio, Alfa Romeo’s most iconic racing car. Alfa Romeo director Richard Cox explained the Giulia Quadrifoglio focuses on the driving experience of the pilot.

With a 7:32.00 lap time around German motorsports complex Nürburgring, the drivers will be glad to know the Giulia is faster than direct rivals BMW M3 and Mercedes-AMG C63 S as well as the Pagani Zonda F and the Koenigsegg CCX.

Alfa Romeo designed the Giulia Quadrifoglio for high-speed performance

Its Ferrari-derived bi-turbocharged 2.9-liter V6 engine produces 505 of horsepower and allows the Giulia Quadrifoglio to go from zero to 60 mph in just 3.8 seconds. The car also features near 50/50 weight distribution, and Brembo brakes.

Owners can opt for carbon ceramic discs. Carbon-fibered roof, hood, and driveshaft combined with aluminum-made engine and suspension complement the Giulia’s engineering and design.

The Giulia’s torque vectoring system can send from zero to 100% to take the corners at high speeds.

Two-mode adaptive dampers allow drivers to adjust suspension stiffness, while the front splitter provides 200 lbs of downforce on the front for extra grip as well as retract to reduce drag at higher speeds.

Giulia Quadrifoglio interior and features

Standard features on the Quadrifoglio include sports seats adjustable in eight different ways and an 8.8-inch widescreen display as well as backup camera, blind spot detection, and rear cross traffic detection.

A cylinder deactivation function in the motor can also improve fuel consumption during low-load driving.

Without official pricing from Alfa Romeo, the 2017 Alfa Romeo Giulia Quadrifoglio should cost around $70,000. Meanwhile, the BMW M3 and Mercedes-AMG C63 S have a price tag of more than $80,000.

In contrast with BMW and Mercedes-AMG, Alfa Romeo sacrificed comfort and luxury to focus on performance which is something people should have in mind when going shopping for a high-performance car.
