Netflix unveiled the main full-length trailer for Marvel´s upcoming series, “Luke Cage”, on its Youtube Channel today.

The show is based on the comic with the same name and will be part of The Marvel Cinematic Universe. -Known as MCU-. “Luke Cage” is the third program ordered by Netflix, following Marvel´s “Daredevil” and “Jessica Jones.” The series will debut on September 30.

The trailer shows actor Mike Colter as the Harlem superhero and reveals some backstory about the origin of his superpowers. It also features Luke Cage’s nemesis, Cornell “Cottonmouth” Stokes, played by Mahershala Ali, who viewers may recognize from the political drama, House of Cards.

Luke Cage’s cast includes actors from Sons of Anarchy and House of Cards

Other cast members include Alfre Woodward, Simone Missick, former “Sons of Anarchy” actor Theo Rossi, Frank Whaley, and Rosario Dawson, who guest stars as Claire Temple, Luke Cage´s first love interest.

Luke Cage is a fictional character created for Marvel Comics by Archie Goodwin, John Romita, and George Tuska. He first appeared on “Luke Cake, Hero for Hire #1” (1972) as a former gang member who gained super strength and impenetrable skin after being the subject of an electrical field experiment. Since the comic was released, the superhero became a favorite among comic book fans and featured on top lists from Wizard Magazine and IGN.

Marvel Studios acquired the rights of Luke Cage from Sony Pictures Entertainment in May 2013 after the company tried to launch a film without success. The studio prepared four drama series, and they offered them to video on demand service and cable providers, with Netflix striking the deal over Amazon and WGN America.

The shows “Daredevil”, “Jessica Jones”, “Luke Cage”, in addition to an expected “Marvel’s Iron Fist,”  are planned to lead up to a “Defenders” live action miniseries.

A previous teaser trailer from the new series was revealed at San Diego’s Comic-con last month during a cast and crew panel. The music will be a major aspect of the show as a wide roster of songs were promised to complement it, and even famous hip-hop song titles will be used to name every episode.

Marvel’s Luke Cage will be available for streaming on September 30th, only on Netflix.
