Microsoft at E3 2018: a new Xbox is coming

Microsoft was set on having a big day at the 2018 E3 convention, and it surely delivered, with a showcase that included 50 games, including 18 that were exclusive to Xbox One and Windows 10 PC. Not only that, but the company announced new sequels on many of its most iconic franchises such as Halo Infinite, Devil May Cry 5, Gears 5, Dying Light and Cyberpunk 2077. In addition, for the first time ever, Kingdom Hearts will be made available for the Xbox.

Not only that, but Microsoft also hinted about its upcoming Xbox console, stating that the team was “deep into architecting” the next Xbox.

Microsoft also stated that they are working on building a new streaming service which will have the purpose of allowing gamers to play on Windows 10, PC or even a phone

“The world of gaming is on a historic growth path,” Phil Spencer, Microsoft’s head of Xbox, said. “In this significant moment, we are constantly challenging ourselves to where we can take gaming next.”

Microsoft at E3: all the announcements

2018 was the year that Microsoft announced the most games at E3, with a whopping 50 games, and teases about the new upcoming Xbox, it is no surprise that gamers are ecstatic over the exciting announcements the company had for them.

Halo Infinite is the first new entry in the core Halo series. The new game will continue to follow the story of Master Chief, claiming it will be the character’s greatest adventure yet, and though the release date is yet to be announced, Microsoft revealed that it is currently under development.

Among other of the broadcasted games include an all-new Forza Horizon – which Microsoft claims to that it’s the most ambitious Forza Horizon game in the saga – an upcoming Just Cause 4, and Devil May Cry 5.

FromSoftware and Activision are working on bringing a new third-person adventure video-game in 2019 titled Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice. It is directed by Hidetaka Miyazaki who was also the mind of both Bloodborne and Dark Souls.

Gears 5 will not be the only surprise in the Gears of War saga. It will also have a mobile-based title named Gears Pop! which will allow turning the user’s favorite Gears of War characters into Funko Pop! figurines. The second one will be titled Gears Tactics, a strategy based game for Windows 10. All three are expected to be released in 2019.
