The German luxury car makers, Mercedes, has unveiled the sports utility vehicle GLC and S-Class Cabriolet, at the 13th Delhi Auto Expo in India.
Amongst the cars that were showcased, the premium luxury Maybach S 60 Guard was also had a noticeable presence.
“The GLC and the S-Class Cabriolet are the two most successful products… and we will be introducing this year,” said Mercedes-Benz India MD and CEO Roland Folger.
With these additions, the car maker is looking to strengthen the SUV and Dream Car segments that had seen the most growth, the last year.
“While, the GLC launch will boost our SUV offering further, the S-Class Cabriolet’s addition will bring a new dimension to the top-end luxury Cabriolets in India,” he added.
The company said that they are looking to start 2016 with a winning attitude that includes a spate of 12 new products and 10 new dealerships.
Talking about the Auto Expo, he said “Auto Expo has today evolved into a global motor show and represents the burgeoning Indian auto industry. We chose this platform to showcase the best products from our global portfolio for our discerning Indian customers, partners and brand enthusiasts.“.
According to a statement that was released by Mercedes India, there has been a significant jump of 32 percent in the sales of the cars from the automaker, from 10,201 units in 2014 to 13,502 units in 2015.
The 13,502 unit sale between the January- December 2015 period marks the highest sales volume that has been achieved by the company in India in a single calendar since its inception, the statement further added.
As for the GLC, it offers the dynamic select handling control system with five driving programmes as standard. Along with the common Eco, Comfort, Sports Plus and Individual Settings, that we are used to seeing in the other models from Mercedes, the new car is also equipped with the off-road engineering package.
