Lenovo has just launched its new affordable smartphone, the Vibe K5 Plus. We have already seen what the K4 Note is capable of, so now let us have a look at how the Lenovo Vibe K5 Plus fairs against the Redmi Note 3 and the LeEco 1S.
Design
The Lenovo Vibe K5 Plus features a metal frame along with a removable back cover. The Lenovo Vibe is 8mm in thickness and 142g in weight.
Both the LeEco 1S and Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 feature a unibody metal design. The devices measure 7.5mm and 169g in weight and 8.7mm and 164g respectively.
Display
Starting with the Lenovo Vibe K5 Plus, it features a 5 inches wide display that has the resolution of 1080 x 1920 pixels (~441 ppi pixel density).
Moving on to the Xiaomi Redmi Note 3, it sports a 5.5inches wide display that has the resolution of 1080 x 1920 pixels (~403 ppi pixel density).
Finally, the LeEco Le 1S comes with a 5.5inches wide display that has the resolution of 1920×1080 pixels (~403ppi pixel density).
In this comparison, all the three devices fair the same. They all pack LCD panels and have similar resolution. Though, usage wise, the Le 1S has the better color reproduction.
Specs
The Lenovo Vibe K5 Plus runs on a Qualcomm MSM8939v2 Snapdragon 616 processor along with 2GB of RAM and 32GB of internal memory that is expandable via external memory card.
Xiaomi’s Redmi Note 3 is powered by Qualcomm MSM8956 Snapdragon 650 processor along with 2/3GB of RAM and of 16/32GB of internal memory which is expandable via external memory card.
Finally, the Le 1S runs on a runs on a MediaTek Helio X10 processor coupled with 3GB of RAM and 32GB of internal memory.
Here, according to the benchmarks, the Le 1S has the best performance overall. Benchmarks scores for the Vibe K5 Plus with the Snapdragon 616 indicate at an almost half performance of the Helio X 10 in the Le 1S.
Camera
In the camera department, the Vibe K5 Plus features a 13MP rear-facing camera and a 5MP front-facing shooter.
As for the Redmi Note 3, it rocks a 16MP rear-facing camera and a 5MP front-facing shooter.
Lastly, the LeEco 1S comes with 13MP rear facing camera and an 8MP front facing shooter.
Taken at face value, Xiaomi’s counterpart appears to be the best, though, according to our usage, we found out that the LeEco 1S does a better job at photo shooting.
Battery
The K5 Plus is backed by a 2,750mAh battery, while the Redmi Note 3 and the Le 1S come with 4,000mAh and 3,000mAh respectively.
In this comparison, the Note 3 does win fair and square, with the largest battery capacity.
Pricing
The K5 Plus is priced at 8,499INR, the Redmi Note 3 at 9,999INR for the 2GB RAM variant and 11,999INR for the 3GB RAM variant while the LeEco 1S will set you back 10,999INR.
The Verdict
If you can extend your budget to fit the price range of LeEco 1S, we would recommend you to opt for the handset, as it presents a well-rounded specs sheet and performance features. However, for that price range, with competitors like the Coolpad Note 3, our go option is Lenovo’s K5 Plus.
