LeEco will launch its new Le Pro 3 smartphone in two variants, with different specs but similar design, on September 21. The Chinese phone maker’s unveiling comes after that of competitors Samsung’s Galaxy Note 7 and most recently Apple’s iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus.
Headquartered in Chaoyang District, Beijing, LeEco is one of the largest online video companies in China. It has 5,000 employees and is expanding to the United States and India, which became LeEco’s first market outside of China.
So far, the tech company, founded in 2004, has released nine smartphones under its Le brand: the Le 1, Le 1 Pro, Le Max, Le Max Pro, Le 1s, Le 2, Le 2 Pro, Le Max 2, and now its new flagship Le Pro 3.
Two days ago, and after months of speculation, LeEco released a poster confirming it would finally launch its highly anticipated Le Pro 3. In addition to details about the launching, LeEco’s official Weibo account shared some teasers taunting Apple’s new iPhone 7 series.
LeEco takes shots at Apple ahead of September 21 launch
The teasers in question showcase a range of skill sets superior to those of Apple’s latest iPhone 7 Plus in areas including battery, performance, and innovation. One of them hints on Le Pro 3’s huge battery capacity.
It also pokes fun at the battery life of the iPhone 7 Plus. The new Apple phone has a Plus body, but its mini battery only extends battery life by one extra hour of usage in comparison to the iPhone 7. But, apparently, Le Pro 3’s battery capabilities will crush those of the iPhones.
The two rumored Le Pro 3 variants, both powered by Snapdragon 821 chipset, will be the smaller 5.5-inch model and the higher-end 5.7-inch version. LeEco will unveil them during a press event on September 21, for which it has already begun sending out press invites.
Specs and rumored price
The 5.5-inch model will sport a 1080p display resolution, a 16MP on the front camera, a rear 8MP snapper, 6GB RAM, 64GB storage and a 4,070mAh battery. Meanwhile, the larger 5.7-inch QHD display will champion the world’s first 8GB RAM and 256GB storage configuration.
It will also come with a 5,000mAh battery as well as a dual camera setup featuring a rear 13MP camera and a 16MP shooter on the front. As said before, both Le Pro 3s surpass the iPhone 7’s 1960 mAh battery and the iPhone 7 Plus’ 2900 mAh battery.
In regards to the prices, the smaller Le Pro 3 could cost approximately $450, while the top-end version could have a price tag of around $600.
