According to a research note by Ming-Chi Kuo of KGI Securities, the next-generation four-inch iPhone handset to come from Apple will not be having the eight-megapixel camera that we had anticipated earlier. Instead, according to the explanation Kuo provided the media with, the device will now feature an improved twelve-megapixel camera.
Moreover, Kuo is claiming that the uncanny iPhone 7 Mini will be much like the iPhone 6S in terms of the other specs as well. It will include an A9 chip and will employ near field communication (NFC) for Apple Pay, it will use “slightly curved” 2.5D glass and the hardware design of the handset should be much like the iPhone 5 and 5s.
“Apple’s new 4-inch iPhone could also feature 16GB and 64GB storage capacities, 802.11ac Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.2, Live Photos support, and a slightly larger 1,642 mAh battery compared to the iPhone 5s,” the reports states.
However, as predicted earlier, 3D Touch is not expected to reach the new handset; instead, this will remain an iPhone 6s-exclusive feature, though it should make an appearance on Apple’s next-generation iPhone 7 later in the year.
Next claim that Kuo makes is on the price of the handset. He sees the upcoming smartphone as retailing between $400 and $500 in the United States, where the iPhone 6S is priced at $649.
There have been other reports about the four-inch iPhone’s launch. A special media event on Tuesday, March 15, may feature the device. The same report also noted that Apple could call its handset the “iPhone SE,” as opposed to the “iPhone 5se” or “iPhone 6c.”
Talking about the other news related to the iPhones, the iPhone 5S, could receive a 50 percent price reduction and retail at $225.
Here is a bit of a refresher of the iPhone 5S’s specs.
It features 4.0 inches wide screen that has a resolution of 640 x 1136 pixels (~326 ppi pixel density). Underneath the hood, the phone is powered by the A7 dual-core processor, coupled with 1GB of RAM and 16/32/64GB internal memory. In the camera department, it features an 8MP rear camera and a 1.2MP front camera. The device is supported by a 1,560mAh battery. Dimensionally, it measures 123.8 x 58.6 x 7.6 mm (4.87 x 2.31 x 0.30 in) and weighs 112 g (3.95 oz) grams.
If the reports are true and the 5S is selling at the claimed price, the deal is not bad as the device is still a good option.
