U.S. – Sony supposedly offered $150 million to Daniel Craig to play Agent 007 in 2 new James Bond Movies. Fans went crazy since Craig has been a fan-favorite since Casino Royale, but the information is shady and lacks solid proof.

Magazine RadarOnline published Sony was trying to secure the actor while searching for a younger, long-term successor for the enduring super-spy. The post dropped on Saturday and jumped out of control around the world.

The problem is Sony no longers has the 007’s flicks distribution rights. EON Productions and MGM have that privilege now, so there is no way Sony could replace Craig anytime soon.

RadarOnline said Sony would make two James Bond films simultaneously

According to the article, after they finish the alleged fifth and six entry, the studio would go right into a third movie with a younger face behind Bond.

The back-to-back strategy in the film industry is usually a no go. Even when it is convenient at an economic level, it creates massive production struggles and difficulties for the creative team.

The Bond producers have never made more than one film at a time. Also, Bond has never “passed a torch to a new generation.” The series EON has been making for over 50 years relies upon reboots from time to time.

Fans waited six years since 2002’s “Die Another Day” (starring Pierce Brosnan) to the reinvention of the franchise in 2006’s “Casino Royale.”

Daniel Craig doesn’t like James Bond

After Casino Royale, Quantum of Solace (2008), Skyfall (2012), and Specter (2015) the actor has spurred a hot passion about not playing the role anymore.

His reluctance to return to the coveted role is due mostly to his age. He doesn’t feel young anymore to keep starring an action-packed blockbuster.

There could be other factors. Craig’s last non-Bond movie was “The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo” back in 2011. That’s a whopping four years where one of the industry’s biggest names has been unable to land himself in another title.

Critics say Craig is the best Bond since Sean Connery. Ironically, the iconic Scottish actor also famously hated the role. “I have always hated that damned James Bond. I’d like to kill him,” he once said.

As Connery, Pierce Brosnan and Daniel Craig, 007 keeps on going whether who is the actor giving live to the super-spy.

The franchise does not need Daniel Craig to carry on

The last 007 films have all been the highest grossing films in the franchise worldwide. EON’s most famous franchise was on a rise before Craig took the mantle.

Even a regular entry as “Die Another Day” gave the franchise its biggest domestic and worldwide earnings yet.  It’s safe to say it was Pierce Brosnan, not Craig, who pulled 007 out of the abyss after Connery left.

Bottom line, Sony can’t offer Daniel Craig two more James Bond movies, and he doesn’t want to. The studio can’t cast a new 007 because it doesn’t have the rights, so the rumor is completely false.
