Google offers 2GB of Free Drive Storage for today

In celebration of Safer Internet Day, Google is giving all of its users a chance to earn 2 gigabytes of free storage on Google Drive by completing a Security Checkup on their accounts.

Google has yet to make an official announcement on its blog regarding this offer, but, as Android Police reported, the company had conducted a similar event for a whole week last year as well. So, we can expect to hear from Google soon, but in the meantime, you might as well upgrade your Drive account for free.

The whole process is quite simple and will not take you more than five minutes to complete it. You just have to head to this link and then log in and follow the instructions that have been mentioned there. The part that you have to pay attention to makes sure no unrecognized devices have been logging into your account. After all the aforementioned are completed, you 2GB gift will be integrated into your Google account automatically.

Even if you don’t use Google Drive, following these steps will ensure better security for your account. Google has been making efforts to make Google accounts safe as much as possible. They are also striving to protect Chrome users from fake download buttons and social engineering ads, but you can do your part by simply updating your password and changing your security questions.

For people who don’t know about the Safer internet day, head over to SaferInternetDay.org. This event has existed for almost 2 years, now. It is surely an interesting read.
