ESPRO Press P5 is capable of making coffee better than other French glass press on the market. It can also create cold brew coffee and even steep tea if customers buy an optional filter. However, ESPRO’s award-winning coffee maker comes at a price.
Helping consumers serve the best cup of coffee or tea possible has been ESPRO’s mission for more than a decade. The company has created a line of sophisticated and high-performance French presses and brewing accessories to achieve its goal.
ESPRO designed the new Press P5 to create a better and safer brewing experience. Made with Schott-Duran made-in-Germany glass, its walls are 40% thicker than competitor French presses to keep beverages hot for a longer period, and the industry-first Safety Lock ensures the glass beaker can’t slide out while pouring.
Between the micro-filters, there’s a buffer that isolates the coffee grinds and tea leaves to provide consistent taste.
ESPRO Press P5 specs
The ESPRO Press P5, designed by Chris R McLean, is currently available in one size, but more sizes will come out during the year. The 18 ounces model makes 1.5 to 2 US cup, and 3 to 4 EU cup.
The coffee press comes with double-microfilters featuring a twist-lock for easy separation, and a 25-unit starter pack of paper filters. Meanwhile, the tea press includes a new specially-made double-microfilter.
In addition to the Safety Lock, the German glass also features automatic close and seal for the tea filter to avoid over-extraction. Filters are bisphenol A (BPA), bisphenol S (BPS) and phthalate free.
Awards and price for the ESPRO Press P5
With a “Make it Better” slogan, the ESPRO Press P5 won awards at both of this year’s top beverage events. In May, the creators of the French press took home the Best New Piece of Consumer Equipment (Non-Electrical) award at the annual Specialty Coffee Association of America Expo (SCAA).
They followed the honor from the leading coffee industry association with the “Best New Product” prize in the Brewing Gear category at the World Tea Expo back in June. Juries of both tradeshows evaluated all new coffee goods and accessories for 2016.
At $59.95, it costs twice as much as traditional French Press coffee makers but only makes half the amount of coffee as the others. However, the quality of the Press P5 and the coffee it makes is difficult to match. Customers can get it via online retailers Amazon and Sur La Table.
