FileCloud makes its debut on Google (NASDAQ: GOOGL) in the form of an extension for Chrome and Gmail. The file-sharing service will allow Google users to send large files and save email attachments without login out from their accounts.

CodeLathe, the developer behind FileCloud and Tonido, made available the new extension on The Chrome Web Store yesterday.

FileCloud is leading the storage market

Cloud apps are a standard option for data storage these days, and FileCloud is currently leading the market with its in-house servers and external providers such as AWS, Azure, and Google Cloud.

Although the file-sharing service was first developed to target businesses -with Tonido aimed at consumers-, the new extension is available to the public for free. CodeLathe hopes to continue on the top of the Cloud-related software, according to its CEO, Madhan Kanagavel.

FileCloud’s free trial accounts offer unlimited storage for large files, desktop Sync clients for Windows and Linux, add-ons for Office and Outlook, as well as mobile apps for iOS, Android, and Window phones. The trial lasts for 14 days.

The extension works with easy steps

After downloading and installing the extension from The Chrome Web Store, a FileCloud icon will appear at the bottom of the message compose window. By clicking the icon, the user is asked to sign in and select the desired file from a FileCloud account. The extension will provide links that can be added to the email, as well as the option fo send the files directly to the recipient.

The FileCloud icon also lets the user save Gmail attachments to a selected target directory. Also, a search tool is available to find files quickly.

FileCloud and Google’s symbiosis is no surprise

The extension development for Google comes as a logical step from CodeLathe as Gmail is currently holding the second largest market share in emails clients (16%) and Google Chrome dominates the browser market with 50.95%, according to Litmus Email Analytics. The FileCloud extension is currently exclusive only to The Chrome Web store.
