DxO is a French photo software company that has just announced a really cool tool for your iPhone. It is a cam called DxO One, which primarily turns your handset to an actual DSLR – to a certain degree obviously.
According to Peta Pixel the camera features a 1-inch CMOS BSI sensor and on the front of the camera is a 32mm-equivalent f/1.8 lens with a 6-blade iris. The pocket-sized device is 2.65-inch (6.9cm) tall and weighs around 108 grams-3.8oz.
So more or less, the 20MPix shooter uses your iPhone or iPad as a monitor after you’ve installed the respective app (it’s free). Once plugged, the camera can be rotated to any direction up to 60 degrees. From there you can optimize the shutter mode, white balance, aperture and switch between various capture modes (Scene, Speed, Aperture Priority, or Full Manual). The camera also delivers full-HD 1080p/30FPS and HD 720p-120FPS video capabilities and houses a microSD slot -photos are being saved to your iDevice’s camera roll.
The company announced that the DxO One achieved a score of 70 in a classic test which is close to a DSLR and much higher than a smartphone.
Below are some photo samples of the camera.
The One will be available for purchase at DxO’s website this September retailing for $599.
