On April 19, UFO hunters were watching NASA’s live feed of the International Space Station (ISS) when they spotted what seems like an ‘alien cylinder’ coming close to the spacecraft and then vanishing.
Alien enthusiasts have been quick to point out that the object disappeared using what they claim is some sort of “cloaking” mechanism that made it invisible after just a couple of seconds.
NASA, however, has made statements in the past referring to these alleged UFOs circling our orbit. Scientists have said these events are nothing but space garbage, reflections, and lights from Earth itself that create the ‘alien’ effect.
The “ISS UFO” is likely to be a lens flare
The self-proclaimed UFOlogist Scott C. Waring was one of the first enthusiasts to write on the April 19 sighting. In a short post published on his blog, UFO Sightings Daily, he explained what he and many others saw:
“I NOTICED A UFO IN THE DISTANCE THAT WAS COMING CLOSER AND CLOSER TO THE SPACE STATION. THE UFO WAS PARTIALLY CLOAKED, WHICH MADE IT LOOK TRANSPARENT.”
Waring went said some alien species had camouflage technology that helped them blend into space as a defense mechanism against other alien species. He cited other UFO experts have read top secret documents in Area 51 that back up his claims.
The static footage from the ISS shows how, suddenly, what looks like a cylindrical object comes close to the station. As the massive spacecraft continues to move softly through space, the object fades and disappears.
Experts and even YouTube commenters have said the most reasonable explanation is that it is just a lens flare, given that it follows the same movement pattern as the station. You can see how shadows of the ISS behave in the same way as the object as it ‘turns on’ its cloaking mechanism.
The YouTube video is also cropped, which might be another reason why the supposed UFO cannot be clearly identified as a lens flare at first. Given how quickly it vanishes, specialists have ruled out the object is a rogue satellite or some other space debris.
People eager to find evidence of alien life might be better off setting their sights beyond our frontiers. Scientists have recently championed several exoplanets as candidates with all the right conditions to host life.
LHS 1140b is the most recent of these “habitable” planets, just 39 light years away from Earth. It is estimated to be 1.5 times as massive as our planet, and it is speculated it might have an atmosphere and liquid water.
