How does the latest Instagram update work?

Instagram Stories allow the users to share multiple photos and videos in a slideshow format. The users now can share moments from their day with a customized group of followers as they scroll trough theirs.

To create a story, the user just has to swipe left in the feed, tap the icon in the bottom of the display to take a photo or hold it to record a video, edit the photo or video, tap done and then the checkmark to share the story.

Even though the story feature gives the users the option to take a new picture or video and post it as a story, it also lets them choose between photos or videos already stored on the phone and post them as the story.

The feature gives people the option of using downloaded images and pictures. To do it, the user just has to tap the three dots at the bottom right and tap the option “Save Photo”. Also if a person decides to post the story in the profile grid, the feature gives the option to do it by tapping the option “Share as Post.”

Users can write text and use new drawing tools, such as those seen in the Snapchat app, like place an emoji in the picture or editions as such.  In addition, People will get a special notification when one of their contacts post a story

The user can also see a counter of who has viewed the story. If someone regrets posting a story, the app gives them the option of deleting it. They just have to hit the three dots at the bottom right of the photo and tap delete.

There is an option to hide the story from particular people, even if they are in the contact list. To do so, the user just has to tap the three dots at the bottom right of the photo and select the option “Hide My Story From” and then choose the account.

People can watch the story as much as they want, but they can interact with it. No one can like or comment the post.

Instagram Ceo says Snapchat deserves all the credit

The Instagram Story feature presents all the options that Snapchat My Story feature currently offers. Options for customization of the photos with drawing, emojis, text and filters, and now the option to post content that disappears after 24 hours.

However,  in Instagram, people can choose to make their stories public which means anyone can see it, even if they are not in the contact list.

Instagram CEO Kevin Systrom told TechCrunch that “[Snapchat] deserve[s] all the credit.

“This isn’t about who invented something. This is about a format, and how you take it to a network and put your own spin on it,” he added.
