Carlo Ancelotti became the newest F.C. Bayern Munich coach after Pep Guardiola did not renew his contract with the Bavarian club. Ancelotti will be ahead of the German team for the next three seasons. The team also receives Holger Bastuber who returns from rehabilitation after breaking his ankle. The defender will play in the Bundesliga this year.
Ancelotti insisted he does not feel like working at Guardiola’s shadow after the Spaniard won three consecutive leagues with the German side. During an interview, he said that Guardiola had been a significant part of the club, but he does not feel any pressure.
When Ancelotti was asked about what kind of football he would like to play, he added that he has a team with the characteristics to play an aggressive attacking style, with very intense and fast players.
The new manager wants to ditch Guardiola’s tactics and play a straightforward soccer
On a different Interview, Javi Martinez, current center back at Bayern Munich. He revealed that Carlo Ancelotti asked the squad to play a more straight-forward soccer following his appointment.
That command represents a massive shift in the Bavarian team style who played a short passing game with huge possession under Guardiola. Guardiola’s “tiki-taka” led the Bavarian eleven to three consecutive Bundesliga and three Uefa Champions League semi-finals.
When asked about Ancelotti, Martinez said that he met him for the first time on this team, and he has been very close to everybody since day one. The biggest difference between both managers is basically the training style as well the mentality.
Last season’s elimination to Atletico de Madrid in UEFA Champions League was labeled a massive failure for the Bavarian side. Many believe that Ancelotti is the right man to lead F.C Bayern to European success after he was able to win “La Decima” for Real Madrid in 2013-2014 UEFA Champions League.
“The goal is to win the Champions League, the Bundesliga, and the German Cup. We are one of the best teams in the world. The first two years we didn’t deserve to play in the final because Real Madrid and Barca were better than us,” Said Martinez during the interview.
When he was asked about last season elimination on the UCL he stated that it was different because they were stronger than Atletico de Madrid, but that’s football, he said. He also remembers the first season he was in Bayern when they won the UCL under coach Jupp Heynckes.
Martinez also discussed his future, and he said he never received an offer from a different club, he added that he is happy at Bayern.
Holger Badstuber re-joins his teammates on the field
Holger Badstuber on of the team’s regular defenders fractured his ankle back in February in a training session that led him to miss the rest of the season. Badstuber is now fully recovered and ready to play again.
During an interview with Goal, he said that he has a good plan to stay fit for a while, but he has to take it slow, and he looks forward to playing in the preseason. He is looking forward to being back on the pitch. The German defender has been very prone to injuries, and he was relentless while recovering from this injury.
While Badstube was recovering from the injury, Bayern Munich won the 2015-2016 Bundesliga, Former coach Pep Guardiola left to Manchester City, and Mario Gotze went back to his previous club Borussia Dortmund and the Italian coach Carlo Ancelotti became the new manager.
“It’s a not a surprise because I knew that Badstuber was a really, serious, serious player, a professional player. I think the danger is gone” Ancelotti said during a pre-match news conference.
The Bundesliga champions are currently in America, and they are playing against AC Milan today, they also have upcoming matches against Inter Milan and Real Madrid in American Soil.
