According to a report from Bloomberg posted August 18, the Apple Watch 2 is going through development difficulties.
The original Apple Watch received a lot of critics for its lack of independence and its need on an iPhone for the device to fully function. Because of this, the company tried to make the Apple Watch 2 more independent, but apparently, this autonomy is giving the smartwatch some developing issues.
The report names sources close to Apple’s internal operations. Leaks coming from the sources suggest that the reliance of the watch to an iPhone that the company was trying to avoid is not working well, to the point where the company might even eliminate that aspect of the smartwatch.
Smartwatch 2 Specifications
The Apple Watch 2 is going to have a higher capacity battery than the original Apple Watch and a better processor, making the apps load faster, which is a substantial improvement in comparison to its predecessor.
The watch will also come with a GPS and a barometer. Exercise apps such as Apple Health will be able to use the GPS feature but will reduce the battery life while using it. Another possible feature using the GPS would include satellite navigation for cars.
There is still no confirmation about enhanced water resistance in the upcoming smartwatch, but rumors say it might have. The original Apple Watch is rated as IPX7 which means it can withstand water for a short period, but prolonged exposure could damage it.
According to a report from Digitimes, Apple will use a Micro LCD panel on the Apple Watch 2, instead of an OLED screen.
Rumors and problems regarding Apple’s sequel to the Apple Watch
Apparently, the cellular chips are the issue at the moment of integrating mobile connectivity. The chips consume too much battery life, something that was already a problem for the smartwatch. Although they are currently working on improving the battery life on the Apple Watch, the company is considering the use of a low-powered cellular data chips.
The smartwatch will have a new swipe-up menu making easier the access to audio and battery control. The Apple Watch 2 will have more customization and flexibility making it easier to flick between watch faces.
Another rumor says that Apple may be considering releasing two versions of the Apple Watch 2 this year, with the date September 16 rounding it. But there is no official word about when the watch (Or watches) is going to be released
