Apple today announced the iPhone SE, its successor to the iPhone 5S and the company’s first new 4-inch smartphone since 2013. Here is a brief overview of the handset’s specs, features. design, price and availability information.
Design
As far as the general aesthetics are concerned, the iPhone SE looks a lot similar to the iPhone 5S. It features the same aluminum body and the same button and camera placement. The device will be available in four color variants; rose gold, gold, silver and gray. Dimensions wise, the smartphone measures 123.8 x 58.6 x 7.6 mm (4.87 x 2.31 x 0.30 in) and weighs 113 g (3.99 oz).
Display
A 4 inches wide display with a resolution of 640 x 1136 pixels (~326 ppi pixel density) has been incorporated on the SE. The panel is an LED-backlit IPS LCD and supports 16M colors.
Specs
The device is powered by a Dual-core 1.84 GHz Twister, which is the same that is found on the iPhone 6S. The RAM available is 1GB size and the internal memory comes in two installments of 16 and 64GB. Furthermore, the GPU is also the same as the iPhone 6S, that is the PowerVR GT7600 (six-core graphics) graphics processor.
Camera
As far as the camera department goes, the iPhone SE surely does not disappoint. A 12 MP shooter with f/2.2 aperture, 29mm focal length, and phase detection autofocus along with a dual-LED (dual tone) flash accompanies the handset on the rear side. The front camera sports1.2 MP shooter with f/2.4 aperture, 31mm focal length, the capability to shoot 720p videos at 30fps and the inclusion of key features such as the likes of face detection and HDR.
Battery
The SE comes with a Non-removable Li-Po 1,642 mAh battery, which Cupertino claims can give up to 13h of battery life.

The device comes with the latest version of Apple’s mobile OS, iOS 9.3, which is available for the other iPhones starting today. Moreover, the iPhone 5se features Wi-Fi calling and NFC capability, which is vital for the device to support Apple Pay.

The iPhone SE currently sells in the US, UK, and Australia first, and rolls out to 100 countries by the end of May. Preorders start March 24; the SE is grabbable March 31.
