The social media giant Facebook is introducing a new set of productivity features to its platform. With a little help from your friends, Facebook will start recommending you new things, showing upcoming events nearby, and even making your daily life easier.
The announcement by Facebook follows the formal rollout of its enterprise communications platform Workplace. Facebook’s Workplace is a business version of the social network, introducing further productivity tools for workers to perform better at their jobs.
Facebook’s growing popularity has not stopped the company from looking for new ways to innovate and improve. Most recently, the company set out to develop its AI project codenamed JARVIS. Robert Downey Jr., star of ‘Iron Man’ and ‘The Avengers,’ expressed his interest in voicing the project earlier this week.
Your friends on Facebook will give you Recommendations
The team at Facebook wants its users to try more and more new things, and they want to be the ones to give you a broad range of options. Well, not exactly them, but they will channel your friends’ suggestions with a new bookmark on your profile.
The upcoming Recommendations feature will allow Facebook users to tag their posts asking for advice on new places or activities. Just like in real life, friends and family can comment on these tagged posts to give their insights. If they have a concrete Recommendation, that post will show all the relevant info: map, opening hours, and more.
The Events bookmark will now show local options
For users who are looking for plans for the weekend, they have to look no further than their Facebook pages. The Events bookmark on their profiles will now prompt upcoming events near them.
The Events suggestions are based on gatherings, parties, festivals, and more attended by Facebook friends and family as well.
Get more things done directly from your Facebook profile
Facebook profiles are now command centers for productivity. The king of social networks has introduced some new features that allow users to interact with their local businesses and make their lives more hassle-free.
A local pizza place using Delivery.com or Slice will now show a ‘Start Order’ button embedded on their official Facebook pages. Users need only to click, choose their favorite food, and wait until the restaurant delivers it at their doorstep.
Other businesses like dentists, salons, and even some doctors with Facebook pages may now start to take appointments directly from their pages as well. They will get in touch with users to confirm their appointments in private.
Facebook has partnered up with Fandango, Eventbrite, and even Ticketmaster to offer a seamless ticket-buying experience straight from their platform. Facebook pages for upcoming events or venues will now show a button to buy or get a ticket.
Starting today, Facebook users in the U.S. may start noticing these changes on their dashboards. Those who don’t have them yet just have to wait, as the social network is progressively rolling them out nationwide.
