Elijah Wood, Orlando Bloom, Dominic Monaghan, Billy Boyd, and Viggo Mortensen got together over the weekend for a photo shoot with Empire Magazine. The reunion was presumably to celebrate 15 years of ‘The Fellowship of the Ring.’

The first installment in ‘The Lord of the Rings’ trilogy premiered in December 2001. A 15th-anniversary box set including all three movies and “The Hobbit” titles was released as a special edition.

The cast of the J.R.R. Tolkien adaptation is famous for its closeness and the unbreakable bond they developed while filming the epic fantasy saga. Some of them have even got matching tattoos to commemorate their ‘Fellowship.’

Frodo and the gang are still as close as ever

Spread all over the world, the lead actors of The Lord of the Rings greeted each other like old friends who, despite not seeing each other for months or years at a time, can talk and joke like they last saw each other this morning.

If pictures are any evidence of their friendship, then Dominic Monaghan’s Instagram is just as much a testament as any other. The actor who played Merry in the films posted a series of shots with the gang on Monday night.

A selfie with a distracted Aragorn aka Viggo Mortensen read at the bottom caption “My captain. My king.” Another pic got three-quarters of the Hobbit crew together, featuring Merry, Pippin (Billy Boyd), and Frodo (Elijah Wood).

The whole Fellowship then posed to recreate an iconic scene of the films at the Mines of Moria, where they battle an army of orcs. “They have a cave troll,” reads below the pic with the cast in arms just like in the movie.

The Fellowship of the Ring answers nine questions

Empire Magazine got Frodo, Pippin, Merry, Sam (Sean Astin), Gandalf (Ian McKellen), Aragorn, Legolas, Gimli (John Rhys-Davies), and Boromir (Sean Bean) to interview each other in sets of nine questions.

Just as close as ever, The Fellowship took the occasion as a chance to catch up, reminisce about their experiences on set, and send each other their love and praise in spite of the distance between them.

Highlight answers of the feature piece include Elijah Wood revealing he has a newfound taste in DJing and that he is currently dating someone. Dominic Monaghan ranted off to Sean Astin about a luxury BMW he bought from him and almost killed him in his garage.

Both Monaghan and Billy Boyd identify deeply with George Harrison as a musician and icon, while Viggo Mortensen has a taste for John Coltrane and Buckethead.

Most of the actors are currently working on different projects, either on TV or film. Orlando Bloom is currently shooting a movie in Shangai while Mortensen is nominated for Best Actor in the Academy Awards for his performance in ‘Captain Fantastic.’
