Fatshark’s ‘Warhammer: End Times – Vermintide’ will be finally released for the PS4 on Tuesday, October 4. A pre-order download for the new fantasy first person shooter is already available at the PlayStation Store for $39.99

The wave-survival cooperative game allows three players to team up and fight against the hordes of the terrible Skaven Army, comprised of magically enhanced rat-men. The party must defend the ruined city of Ubersreik from being overrun by these monsters.

The game initially debuted for PC in 2015 and is now expanding to the Sony’s console as well as the Xbox One which will see a similar release date. Vermintide is hugely popular and has enjoyed mostly good reviews for its gameplay and visuals.

Characters and gameplay

Vermintide allows people to play with five different characters that wield a large variety of weapons and it is multiplayer-only which means this game is highly strategic and requires not only individual prowess but constant teamwork to win.

Dwarf Ranger: Strenght over speed, useful to keep the rest of your team from being overrun by vermin. Highly resistant and powerful, it’s great for the front lines.

Empire Soldier: A good companion for the Dwarf, resistant, and pretty powerful. Has access to a wider range of abilities due to the weapons he can wield and is good for the front lines as well.

Waywatcher: Very good for the rear and for taking out special enemies. Her abilities are perfect to deal with the hordes. An excellent character for any player who’s looking to be at the top of the leaderboard, but it is hard to control in some aspects.

Witch Hunter: The best for specials and overall one-on-one melee combat.  He can also focus on enemies far away, but it has to deal with ammo limitations. A Witch Hunter/Waywatcher combo can work wonders if they have a Dwarf tanking for them.

The player must also learn to block and push his way around the map, remembering this game requires them to clear incoming hordes. A combination of these two skills will help them fend off the large crowds of vermin, while other skills like dodging will prove useful for close encounters with unique enemies.

System Requirements

On PS4 you will be required to have 15GB minimum free space to download the game and a PlayStation Plus Membership for online campaigns.

People who are looking to get the PC version must have a minimum of 6GB of RAM with 20GB of free space. A 2.83GHz Core 2 Quad Q9500, or a Phenom II X4 940 teaming up with a GeForce GTX 460 or Radeon HD 5770 /w 1GB VRAM will be enough to run the game smoothly on standard settings.
