US – WhatsApp is the most widely used instant messaging app across multiple platforms these days. If you are an Android user then this news will definitely make you happy as WhatsApp has released a new updated version of WhatsApp in the Android smartphone market.

WhatsApp’s updated version for Android users

The updated version of WhatsApp includes many new features like the ability to “mark as unread” chat messages, custom notification and many more. The recently updated versions of WhatsApp that are out in the market are v2.12.189 to v2.12.194.

WhatsApp is the most popular cross-platform mobile messaging app, which allows users to send messages (text, audio and video) without having to pay any charges. The new Android update brings custom notification settings, which can be applied both at the individual as well as group level. One can find the new setting just under the media box in contact’s or group’s detail chat page.

This new custom setting includes the option to mute the chat conversation as well as custom notification, which gives users option for tones, vibration length, popup notification, and others. Another important feature that WhatsApp has added to the new release is the ability to mark messages as unread. This can be done by just tapping and holding a message for a while and then selecting the “mark as unread” option. One thing to note down here is that this “mark as unread” option will not affect the status for sender as all the changes will be done on the receiver’s end only. This feature is especially good for those who want to come back to the chat again later.

Other features which have been added are as follows

  • Low data usage option for voice call. This will work best in such location where the connectivity of the Internet is limited.
  • Google Drive backup and restore option are back in WhatsApp which was removed earlier.

The updated version of WhatsApp is still on its way to reach to Google Store. So you have to wait a bit to install this updated version of WhatsApp but still if you want, you can download it from the official website of WhatsApp.
