Sony Xperia Z5 Premium is a flagship smartphone launched in November 2015. However, even before the dust settled down, Sony Xperia X has been released and will be available soon. You can pre-order the device if you are located in the US or UK.

In this article, we will be taking a closer look at the specifications of both devices and tell you whether Xperia X is worth the wait or not.

While the Xperia Z5 Premium features a 5.5-inch IPS display with a resolution of 3840×2160 pixels at 806 ppi pixel density, the Xperia X offers a 5-inch FHD IPS display with a resolution of 441 ppi pixel density.

As you can infer, the X model comes with standard specification whereas the Z5 Premium accompanies a premium quality display.

If you would like to browse the web and work on apps then you should buy the Premium variant, since you will be able to enjoy more screen area.

As far as specs are concerned, Sony Xperia Z5 Premium sports Snapdragon 810 and Adreno 430, which is much snappier than the Snapdragon 650 and Adreno 510 packed in the X.

Even though both Z5 Premium and X are integrated with 3GB RAM, the Xperia X ships in both 32GB and 64GB storage capacities.

The big difference between Sony Xperia Z5 Premium and Xperia X is that the latter is equipped with a 13MP front-facing snapper, which is higher than what Z5 premium (5.1MP) offers.

Interestingly, the capacity of primary camera remains the same at 23MP, with f/2.0 aperture for both devices.

The Xperia X ships with Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow straight out of the box, while the Z5 premium comes with Android Lollipop 5.1.1, eligible to the Marshmallow update.

Both devices bear fingerprint sensor, while battery wise the Z5 Premium is powered by a 3,430mAh battery. The Xperia X, meanwhile, ships with only 2,620mAh, which is comparatively less than the Z5.

The Verdict

If you care about display area, you should buy certainly consider Sony Xperia Z5 Premium. Though, if a basic normal smartphone for regular usage and selfies is what you are looking for, then the Xperia X will be more useful.

We hope that the pricing of Xperia X will be lower than the cost of the Z5 Premium. If the price difference is not too significant, then you should go for the Z5 Premium, since it offers enhanced features except for the front-facing camera shooter.

If your requirement is not immediate, then it woukd be better to wait till the Xperia X rolls out, so that you can verify reviews before deciding which smartphone to opt for.
